Water Supply

Client: Maine School Administrative District #11
Location: West Gardiner, ME
Salt stored at a public works road maintenance facility was thought to have contaminated a public drinking water supply well serving an elementary school in West Gardiner, Maine. HAI used electromagnetic (EM) and geophysical methods to delineate the area impacted by the salt pile, then a Very Low Frequency (VLF) geophysical survey which located a high yield well drilling location in a separate aquifer to replace the contaminated well. HAI published and presented a technical paper describing this project at an international symposium (SAGEEP 2010).
